Elon Musk’s big plans for his lifetime include starting a human colony on Mars and artificial intelligence has predicted what this colony may look like.
The CEO of SpaceX Elon Musk plans to ferry one million people by 2050 to the Red Planet and he has suggested how he expects humans to live on the planet but his suggestions are quite different from what AI software told the Sun.
The U.S Sun interacted with the artificial intelligence software DALL-E to get a prediction of what a human city may look like on Mars.
DALL-E was created by OpenAi and is a machine-learning model that can summon extraordinary images of things from keyword commands. The AI was created in 2021 and is recognized as a language transformer model that conjures images from any idea prompts.
OpenAI explained that DALL-E “receives both the text and the image as a single stream of data containing up to 1280 tokens and is trained using maximum likelihood to generate all the tokens, one after another.”
According to OpenAi “this training procedure allows DALL-E to not only generate an image from scratch but also to regenerate any rectangular region of an existing image that extends to the bottom-right corner, in a way that is consistent with the text prompt.”
As shared by The Big Issue DALL-E was named after Pixar’s Wall-E.
When DALL-E was asked to come up with what human dwellings on Mars could be like DALL-E suggested that the Red planet could pop out a dystopian Martian. The intelligence software produced remarkable skyscrapers that could be on the planet but some of the imagined Martian cities did not look lively enough, they had an abandoned and decrepit look.
Musk whose plans are for 2050 has formally admitted that living on Mars will be tough and that the first humans who make it to the Red Planet will probably suffer before life on the planet becomes bearable.
A lot of people have reasonably questioned how Elon Musk intends to help people survive on the planet when he takes them there. Musk has answered this through previous tweets where he said “life in glass domes at first. Eventually, terraformed to support life, like Earth.”
The process of terraforming that Musk mentioned would involve creating the right environment such as available on earth to support the growth of plants as it happens on earth. The right environment will have to be created outside the glass domes and will include a supply of oxygen.
People responded to Elon’s idea of terraforming by pointing out that with the current technologies available on earth the idea may unlikely to work, and Musk took time to respond. “Terraforming will be too slow to be relevant in our lifetime. However, we can establish a human base there in our lifetime” he said. Musk also added that “at least a future spacefaring civilization – discovering our ruins – will be impressed humans got that far.”
Musk has openly acknowledged that it may be easy to get to Mars using his SpaceX rockets but the easiness stops shot from living there. He has admitted that creating a liveable city on Mars will be complicated.
While Musk is confident about humans colonizing the Red Planet in 20250, space engineering experts believe the likelihood of this heavily depends on how far and fast autonomous mining technologies can be made available to start mining processes for valuable resources that can support human existence on the planet.
Excitingly, NASA has managed to send and land a rover on the planet producing never seen images and exploring the planet to provide information that can assist in addressing would-be challenges for human expeditions. Musk has claimed that getting one million people on the Red Planet is possible by 2050 and that the easy way to get them there will be using his SpaceX rockets which can be launched three times a day using a fleet of 1000 Starship fleet.
Elon Musk’s idea of humans settling on mars has been ongoing and he has for some time used Twitter to share his idea of how life on Mars may be achievable. In 2019 he tweeted “it’s possible to make a self-sustaining city on Mars by 2050 if we start in 5 years and take 10 orbital synchronizations.”
Critics have faulted the feasibility of this plan happening in less than 20 years with people citing the obvious, mars does not provide life-supporting resources such as oxygen and water which will make living or growing food impossible. Dust particles and stones also available on the planet will eventually affect any man-made infrastructures that may be installed on the planet showing that it will take a little longer to remove these obstacles before humans settle on the planet. Those who believe this can be done believe the timeline can be stretched longer. While NASA has managed to successfully land its Perseverance rover on the Red Planet, it may take 20 years for it to successfully send a person to the planet.
Tesla’s owner started SpaceX to create a flagship of Space rockets 15 years ago with the idea of making it possible for humans to travel to Mars, settle on the planet, and eventually travel between the planet and Earth. In 2016 Elon Musk told people at an International Astronautical Congress in Mexico that his idea of establishing a human colony on Mars is “not about everyone moving to Mars, this is about becoming multi-planetary. This is really about minimizing existential risk and having a tremendous sense of adventure.”
Musk had also previously revealed that a city on Mars will likely be made of glass domes and that the project may cost over $10 billion to come to life. But the new images by DALL-E AI show what people can expect if the idea becomes a reality.

So it seems these rich people plan to leave planet earth. The question is why and is something happening, that they are not telling us?
