The new collection from Google is not bad bearing in mind how the company has not been stable with its devices.
The devices have received anticipated upgrades for onboard key improvements and processing, making the Pixel 7 Pro noticeable as a phone you may settle on if you want a Pixel line phone.

On the other side is the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. Unlike the Pixel 7 Pro, the S22 Ultra does not borrow design style from its siblings in the series; the Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus. It rather takes after the Galaxy Note (a discontinued model) to feature curved sides and rectangular design and an inbuilt S-Pen slot.
The Ultra is the much hoped-for replacement of the Note and is much likely part of the Galaxy- S series by name alone and not design. The cameras appear on a plain back (no bars or contour cuts) of the phone at the top left corner.
The Galaxy S22 Ultra impresses with its display just like other Samsung phones. Quick and smooth screen interaction is achieved with the 120Hz adaptive refresh rate on a Quad HD+ Super AMOLED screen that offers bright and lively colours.
Both the Pixel 7 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra are bulky in the hand, none offering a good handling experience for a user but when compared to the Pixel 7 Pro the Samsung model is a stroke bigger though you won’t notice any size difference. The flagship’s size means you won’t need to settle on smaller features of storage, RAM, camera specs, battery capacity or other better feature’s not available in the smaller models in the S22 and Pixel 7 series.
Hardware and Cameras
The Pixel 7 Pro is powered by a Tensor G2 chip continuing Google’s program of using Tensor chips. Everyday phone tasks such as messaging, video streaming and speech recognition are done at lower power consumption and the tech company has claimed that the Tensor G2 chip is 60% faster than its forerunner but that claim pales in comparison to the high speed of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor chip in the Galaxy S22 Ultra. It should be noted though that the two processors are also new in the game.
When it comes to storage the Samsung is on another level with 8GB or 12GB RAM alternative and storage space from 128 GB up to 1TB while the Pixel 7 Pro only offers 12GB RAM and 128 GB to 256GB of storage space.
A look at the cameras shows that both phones have improved camera features. A 108MP primary camera and 40MP front camera adorns the Galaxy S22 Ultra for stunning selfies and clear video calls while the Pixel 7 Pro uses a 10.8MP for selfies and Face unlock option and a 50MP primary camera. The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra has the best phone camera out there though it’s yet to be seen if the Pixel 7 Pro will make a run for it and claim that number-one spot.

With a fusion of an S series and Note, the Galaxy S22 Ultra has a striking design that brings a first-rate experience while the Pixel 7 Pro brings a high-quality display and the best camera upgrades at a more affordable price like the Pixel 6 Pro. So now comes the important question which of the two Android-powered phones should you buy? Because we have seen the distinct differences between both devices, answering the question should not be that hard.
Both phones offer fast refresh rates, high resolution, and beautiful displays, have large batteries, and offer a wire charging feature. The similarities end here though.
The Galaxy S22 Ultra speaks to speed and power and is an option for users looking for a powerful device and extra storage options. The Pixel 7 Pro also loses to the Galaxy in terms of camera setup with its high performance but the 7 Pro stands out to buyers for its price tag saving customers up to $300 that they may need to add to get the S22 Ultra making the Pro 7 a better choice.
